“Time to re-humanise the conversation”

Both Lives Matter | Press | “Time to re-humanise the conversation”

Speaking after today’s lecture, as part of the Northern Ireland Human Rights Festival, Dawn McAvoy from Both Lives Matter commented;

“We were thrilled with the success of the first Both Lives Matter event which was a valuable and engaging contribution to the Northern Ireland Human Rights Festival. There was standing room only as Brett Lockhart QC graciously and robustly set out how human rights law can protect and give dignity to both lives as far as possible.”

Mr Lockhart finished his talk by saying, “In this address I make my own plea for more reasoned discourse on what is an issue that inevitably arouses emotion and intense passion from all perspectives.”

Dawn McAvoy concludes,

“Progress on women’s rights cannot continue to be measured by the ability to end human life. Equality does not equal abortion. It’s time to re-humanise the conversation.”
